Technical apparatus are really needed to assist the growth of plants especially if you want to grow them in an isolated and artificial environment. This is the main reason why grow lights were invented and this is also the reason why these grow lights have become very popular.

In mass production of certain flowers, grow lights are particularly used especially if there is a time table to follow for the production. LED grow lights are the kind of grow lights that many flower growing and producing company use in times of unfavorable weather condition. There is no telling whether a storm is foreboding and can possibly harm the flowers if they are not sheltered.

So just like any other manufacturing companies, growing flowers and plants is also modified so the environmental factors and conditions are kept optimum and stable for the plants continued growth.

Actually, in many green houses, the sun can still penetrate the surface, the leaves and flowers of plants. What are mostly kept away are the harsh wind from blowing and the possible birds and aerial parasites that may try to feed on plants. However, even the sun cannot always guarantee favorable weather and sunny days every day. So when the sun does not show up in fervor, LED grow lights are turned on instead to give light and energy to plants.

In fact, LED grow lights provide plants with the right wavelength of light that can maximize the rate with which they can grow, flower, and bloom. Although LED grow lights are known to be tough on the budget, this one time investment can last years even with continued and constant use. The advantage of using LED light bulb is far better than using sodium lamps.  They last longer than most grow lights so you can still make the most of your investment. Remember, a set of ordinary outdoor patio lights simply won’t do the trick- you need the real thing.

Three Different Types of LED Plant Grow Lights

Posted on 21st October 2010 in Home & Garden

Today, individuals preparing to start an indoor garden and those who wish to improve their plants have a variety of options when it comes to lighting. Grow lights are essential to plant growth, and a number of types of lights are available. While the grow light market is increasing, there are three standards many turn to for plant lighting.

At one time, fluorescent grow lights were the go-to lighting source for indoor gardeners. Fluorescent grow lights were preferred because the buyer could purchase full-spectrum bulbs or individual spectrum bulbs depending on the plant type and lighting requirements, also these grow lights were cool running and could be placed inside grow tents without the major risk of fire. However, it was soon realized that the lights did not last long, and growers had to buy more individual spectrum lights as their indoor gardens grew.

Incandescent lighting is adequate for plants that require little light or shade to grow, but plants that require other, more specific types of light will falter. Incandescent bulbs are perhaps the most inexpensive type of bulb on the market, but also have the shortest lifespan and will need to be replaced much more frequently than any other type of grow light.

The best and most efficient type of lighting on the market today are LED plant grow lights. These lights will not affect the growth of plants since they do not give off any heat, and this characteristic also makes LED grow lights cost-efficient. The bulbs cannot provide a full light spectrum, but can target certain wavelengths. Research has also shown that LED lights have the capability to decrease growth time in plants as well as increase their production. LEDs are also environmentally friendly, and when needed can be disposed of like regular daily garbage.

With many choices available, indoor gardeners can pick and choose types of lighting for the best results from their plants. Research is all that is needed to make the most of any indoor garden.
